CAIRDE... 1500 euros, Thank you !

It was with great pride that I was able to present “Cairde” Clones with a cheque for a fantastic 1500 euros, all proceeds from

Eugene T. Hamill Photography’s“Happy Faces” event in April at our Clonboy studio in Clones. As ever upon request the people Of clones

and its hinterland gave very kindly to our request for a donation of 25 euros each for a portrait with their full donation going to the

wonderful community that is “Cairde” here in Clones. Cairde provides a facility for people withspecial needsto go and express

themselves by learning to make crafts, learning to sing and dance, learning how to communicate confidently with the general public

and most importantly becoming friends with each other as well as teaching us the general public to understand their needs and want

for respect within our community. I think they do a wonderful job and all the staff who work with them deserve great credit for carrying

out their caring duties to the fullest while preserving the dignity and respect their clients are entitled to. This is a magnificent facility we

have here in Clones and they certainly deserve every penny you the community have given them, Thank you, Thank you.

Eugene would like his clients who are waiting to choose their images and those who have already chosen their images to contact him

to organise appointments for viewing and for collection of images at the studio on 047 51788, 087 9948585 or through his facebook account .

Again Thank you for your great Contribution to people in need !!!!

Scotshouse I.C.A.

Had a very enjoyable night explaining the benefits of joining a photographic society to the members of the Scothouse ICA. They now know that it takes a certain amount of passion and dedication if one wants to pursue photography as a serious hobby. Hopefully we will see some new members at Clones Photographic Society in the near future. I must say I was well royally treated by the ICA group with plenty of good food and craic ... Don't forget if you are interested in joining Clones Photographic society just call me Eugene Hamill on 087 9948585 .

"WAS IT WORTH IT ?"

Title of image “ Was it worth it”
Clones Photographic Society decided to honour this day 100 years ago with a re-enactment

photoshoot of a survivor of the Rising ina melancholy mood wondering about the whole affair

and if he had done the right thing in fighting for his country especially after so many people dying

and so many being executed. Our model is wearing the actual medals earned by Mr. Eugene Thomas

Hamill 92 Francis Street, G Cpmpany, 1st Battalion, Dublin Brigade for his part in the Rising at the

Four Courts Garrison under the command of Edward Daly. I am the grandson of Eugene Hamill and

was named after him. I include two images taken by myself at our photoshoot . Our sitter is Isacco

Diegoli from Bologna in Italy. He is studying Irish History here in Clones and is very impressed with the

1916 celebrations up to now. We leave the the answer to our soldiers question to the viewer.

HAPPY FACES CAIRDE 2016

Happy Faces will benefit Cairde Clones this year so myself and my wonderful assistant Laura went down to Cairdes building on the Monaghan Rd., and set up studio to capture some of the beautiful people who use and work in this great facility. We were met by Josephine Treanor and her daughter Emma when we arrived and they helped set up the studio with us. Kathy and Karen were working away in the background and mentioned that they would be getting some images of their family and friends later on. We started by taking the images of the members of cairde and finished with the workers and their friends, what a great day it was, every one enjoyed the experience of a full professional photographic studio session. I hope you agree!!. Happy Faces will be taking place at Eugene T. Hamill Photography on the Cavan Rd., Clones on Thursday 30th March, Friday 31st March and Saturday April 1st . Be sure to book asap . Each mini studio-session will cost 25 euros with the sitter receiving a 7x5 image in presentation folder with full proceeds going to our freinds in Cairde. Remember one person per sitting. Everyone deserves a break.....

Mid-term break, what to do? We went to London and what a great time we had. St Pauls Cathederal was the highlight for me that is, the 500 steps to the top were worth the effort to capture the wonderful views of a magnificent skyline....

TURTLE BUNBURY.....

Turtle Bunbury was a keynote speaker at the recent Transatlantic Connections 3 Conference. He discussed the connection between America and Ireland prior to and during the period of the 1916 rising. Turtle was the last keynote speaker of what was a fantastic lineup of speakers at the conference in Bundoran... a pint in Brennans of Bundoran afterwards and then the Gala Ball, hard work !!. Turtle is also an honorary Clonesian being married to Miriam Moore's daughter Ally .. see you about the Town Turtle !!!!!

TRANSATLANTIC CONNECTIONS 3

What a great idea to have a conference in Bundoran in the middle of January, who'd a thought of it. Well it was a great success with talking panels on Humanities in medicine, Music and how it interacts with politics, litreature, surfing and conflict resolution with great keynote speakers and cultural evenings enjoyed by all. Well done Institute of Study Abroad Ireland. Looking forward to next years event .....

President Higgans presents Drew University Peace award to Bruce Morrison...

Drew University from New Jersey USA asked President Higgans to present their Peace award to Bruce Morrison of  "Morrison Visa" fame  for his work in helping to secure agreement in the Peace Process. This occasion took place in Dublin in the beautiful surroundings of the Teachers Club in Parnell Square. The Institute for Study Abroad Ireland were instrumental in bringing this prestigious affair to Ireland as part of their TransAtlantic Connections 3 Conference in Bundoran, Co. Donegal. I must say it was great to be able to photograph President Higgans again, he is always a gentleman and at ease in front of the camera.

BOSTIK IRELAND Corporate Shoot......

I had a call from Bostik Ireland & Europe to quote on a conference they were having at the wonderful Grand Hotel in Malahide. They required individual shots of all their managers in Europe plus casual images of the day as it unfolded.  It was great to see the professionalism shown on the couple of days by the hotel staff and ancillary companies who made the event a truly marvelous example of Ireland as a corporate destination, the highlight for me was the cultural level of the entertainment at the banquet provided by some of the best Irish Dancers in the country, they even had the Europeans dancing around the "Walls of Limerick" or is it Kilkenny, anyway everyone had a great time and went home with a great impression of Ireland ....

MONAGHAN COUNTY MATTERS starring Eugene T. Hamill Photography...

It was nice I must say to be asked to talk about my studio and the work I do for Happy Faces by the Monaghan County Matters team. It brings perspective to the work the photographers of the I.P.P.A. (Irish Professional Photographers Association) do for charity. The National Portrait Day (Happy Faces day) will be coming up soon so keep an eye open for further updates on our 2016 campaign .
